Changes

The Changes brought about by the Growth of Tourism in Japan.

Economically

With the growth of tourism in Japan, this brings about foreign currency into Japan, this would be foreign money inflow. This would contribute significantly to Japan's economy.

However, if Japan depends highly on tourism for their economy, if tourism arrival in Japan decreases, this would pose a huge problem for Japan.

Environmentally

With tourism, there would definitely be negative impacts on the environment in Japan.

Take Mount Fuji for an example, due to the increased amount of climbers every year, there has to be measures such as building walls to prevent the erosion of the mountain. However, Japan has been very careful about their environment and preserving the environment. There are measures taken to prevent greater damage to the environment. For example, the Kyoto Protocol.

Locals would be more aware of their surroundings due to tourism. It would make them realise how "special" their country is, thus appreciating it and protecting it. However, if the government does not control the number of inbound tourist, this might pose as a huge threat to the country itself as not all tourists are educated to protect the environment.

Socially

With higher inbound tourist arrivals, this might promote jobs that might not have been discovered until globalisation had made travelling to other countries more convenient and easier. With more jobs created, this would actually improve the standard of living for locals and the quality of their lives.

However, on the downside, with inbound tourism, this might promote the dilution of the culture of their society and country. Locals would be exposed to culture from other countries and adopt them instead of staying rooted to their culture.

Technologically

With tourism, the country is "forced" to improve their technology to accommodate to tourists' needs and wants so as for them to enjoy their stay in that particular country. However, when improving their technology, their locals would have to be able to keep up with the technology so as to provide the best for the tourists.
